POSITION PURPOSE: The Maintenance Manager reports to the Plant Manager and is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of all plant facilities and equipment. This position will implement and manage the plant's Proactive, Preventative and Corrective Maintenance Programs and continuously identify equipment and items which need improvement or additional work. Will work closely with the plant Operations Manager and operating staff to assure plant equipment is maintained in a safe and efficient operating condition at all times.

PRIMARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Organizes and directs the Preventive Maintenance Program as well as the CMMS system for all plant equipment.

  • Maintain the highest level of integrity in all dealings with or on behalf of Veolia and while representing the company outside the organization and to the facility owner.

  • Assist Plant Manager in providing oversight of and direction in regard to all facility programs and policies.

  • Schedules the capital improvement program activities of the Maintenance Department.

  • Manages maintenance inventory, procurement and cost controls.

  • Closely coordinates work with the Operations Manager and operational staff and assists in capacity management.

  • Negotiates contracts with external vendors and fully engages in competitive bidding whenever possible (min of three)

  • Develops and manages Reliability-Centered Maintenance Strategies, including overseeing creation and development of work packages

  • Manages Preventive, Predictive and Corrective Maintenance programs for equipment, instrumentation and controls, including vibration analysis programs.

  • Establishes maintenance schedules and ensures that machines, equipment, tooling and other accessories are properly maintained and in top working condition. Oversees and manages the training of direct reports to ensure compliance with published Company operating and safety policies and procedures.

  • Assists the Plant Manager in developing the department's annual maintenance budget as well as the short- and long-term capital budgets and planning.

  • Manage, assign work and hold employees accountable for their performance. Perform employee evaluations.

  • Performs assignments in compliance with published Company operating, maintenance, and safety policies and procedures.

  • Possess excellent writing and presentation skills, possess verbal skills that are persuasive and be willing to promote plant policies while leading and coaching employees in a manner that maintains and builds upon positive employee relations.

  • Support and emphasize the importance of safety and environmental programs and ensure regulatory compliance.

  • Ability to organize, plan, schedule and direct all activities included in the operations department while working in close coordination with the operation department.

  • Work and coordinate closely with the plant Operations Manager and other plant employees outside of the operations department.

  • Ensure the safety of all employees of the facility through elimination of injuries to employees, contractors and visitors by rigorously adhering to all safety policies. Maintains safe working conditions: identifies and corrects or reports unsafe work areas.

  • Ability to read and fully understand control logic block diagrams, P&ID's and other technical manuals.

  • Prepare, maintain and provide a variety of reports/documents as required or upon request

  • Promote productivity and teamwork with open communication, timely decision making, and use of leadership skills to set high standards of performance, while providing the direction necessary to achieve performance.

  • Establish responsibilities, goals and expectations of assigned employees. Monitor and provide feedback to employees to ensure daily production activities support plant goals.

  • Work under limited to no supervision.

  • Independently prioritizes and executes responsibilities.

  • Provide management direction in the absence of the Plant Manager.

  • Prepares work orders either from a CMMS system as required and prepares work related reports, procurement requisitions, charts, graphs and data submittal requirements in an accurate and timely manner.

  • Ability to work rotating shifts and overtime as needed.

Qualifications

Education / Experience / Background

  • Degree in related field (Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering) with a concentration in mechanical or electrical maintenance or equivalent related experience in power plant maintenance with at least 5 years in a supervisory capacity demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Excellent communications skills with the ability to interact and present challenging concepts particularly to non-exempt employees.   • Familiarity with or ability to learn Maximo and SAP.

  • Must be able to perform large amounts of standing, walking and to work at heights, and climb ladders and stairways.

  • Must be physically able to become respirator qualified.

  • Diversified background with strong technical, business and managerial skills.

  • Familiarity with or ability to learn Maximo and SAP.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate activities of others. \

  • Must be able to perform large amounts of standing, walking and to work at heights, and climb ladders and stairways.

  • Must be physically able to become respirator qualified.

Required Certification / Licenses / Training

  • Must hold a valid driver license with a satisfactory driving record to maintain minimum company required insurance coverage.
